Jeff Garcia: "I know i'm the starting quarterback here"
[Unfortunately, the video is no longer available]

Jeff Garcia might be getting a little insecure about his status with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With myriad of rumors swirling about Brett Favre playing in Tampa, Garcia has a good reason to be insecure. Afterall Garcia has been no stranger to boxing up his life and moving to a new city. Garcia has played for 5 different teams in each of the past 5 season, starting with San Francisco in 2003, then off to Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia in 2006, and finally with Tampa in 2007.

Jon Gruden and the Bucs have had a history of stockpiling QB's due to the fact that they have not been able to find their own Favre since the days of .....wait for it.........Brad Johnson.

"He loves quarterbacks, but he likes to just date. He doesn't like to marry." Garcia said today.

Gruden who should be protecting the current property and leader of his team had this to say:

"I worry about our football team. I really just prefer keeping this conversation to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers...Jeff Garcia is our starting quarterback. We're in the fourth day of training camp, and we want to play a lot better football than we did last season.".

It's not like Garcia had a rough season. In fact, you might not be aware of this but he led the team to win the division and was voted into the Pro Bowl last year. This 38 year old QB had a stellar season, all things being considered. However, it seems he is just another victim to the legendary all encompassing Favre shadow.

If (Favre) comes in, as much as the accolades are huge on that side, I'm the starting quarterback, and it's going to be a battle," Garcia said.

"That's just my attitude. I'm the starter here. I'm going to choke it to death until somebody pulls my grip off of it."

Simmaaaahhhh down now Jeff, simmmmahhhhhhhh down. We're in the middle of the sports news abyss right now. We just needed a little something to talk about.
