Manny heads west to L.A.
Just when we all thought the trade would not go through, the Los Angeles Dodgers sweep in a get their slugger - Manny Ramirez.

Joe Torre, of all people explains why he likes the trade. "When a player like Manny becomes available, I don't think there's a manager in baseball who wouldn't say they're interested. It was something that happened very quickly, obviously.", according to ESPN.com.

The trade which was speculated to be between the Florida Marlins and the Red Sox. However, it was the Dodgers and the Pittsburgh Pirates that came to the table to make the trade happen. The other players involved in the trade were Jason Bay going to Boston and the Pirates getting 4 minor league prospects. Third baseman Andy LaRoche and right-handed pitcher Bryan Morris will go to the Pirates from the Dodgers. Outfielder Brandon Moss and right-handed pitcher Craig Hansen will leave the Red Sox organization for Pittsburgh.

Apparently, Ramirez felt no remorse regarding the trade.

"The Red Sox don't deserve a player like me" Ramirez stated. "During my years here, I've seen how they [the Red Sox] have mistreated other great players when they didn't want them to try to turn the fans against them. The Red Sox did the same with guys like Nomar Garciaparra and Pedro Martinez, and now they do the same with me. Their goal is to paint me as the bad guy. I love Boston fans, but the Red Sox don't deserve me. I'm not talking about money. Mental peace has no price, and I don't have peace here.", according to ESPN deportes.

Well Manny, the city of Los Angeles should be an easy place to find your mental peace....seems like a pretty quiet uneventful town.

I can't wait to see Manny's State Farm commercial.
LA trying to build a NY WEST?!?
