$8 Million not enough for Strahan
By: SCUBA

Michael Strahan, formerly of the New York Giants, told
FOXSports.com that he will remain retired.
After the 37 year-old Strahan told the NFL network that it would take
$8 million and a few kind words to lure him back to the NFL after the
recent season ending injury to Giants Defensive End Osi Umenyiora, in
the end he said no. Apparently, the Giants offered him enough money to
come back however, it was his body and not the money that made his
decision for him.
"I have gone back and forth on this because as a player you'll always
want to play, you'll never lose that urge to be out there. But I could
only do this if I could commit 100 percent, physically, mentally,
emotionally and I can't do that. I've tried to convince myself and my
body to give it one more year, but in the end I just don't think I
could turn it on like I need to again.", Strahan admitted.
Apparently, being a part of the sports media with FOX Sports now is where his mind and body are at this point of his life.
"I've got a great home at FOX now and I think it's where I belong. I
wish I could've had different news for Giants fans but I've known for a
while I'm done."
Strahan could of put one more year in the NFL however, he is a natural
fit in the sports media industry. Obviously, he has made a name for
himself in the largest media market in this country in New York by
having a 15-year Hall-of-fame career with the New York Giants.
As a player he always was witty, intelligent and receptive with the
media. He is an extremely open and opiniated person who possesses
enough media professionalism to be the "Charles Barkley" of Fox. Not
sure if that is a good thing, but as long as he doesn't televise his
own
colonoscopy we're fine with it.
