McNabb Will Remain Starter

Head coach Andy Reid held a press conference at 11:00 AM central to
address the benching of Donovan McNabb and his future with the
Philadelphia Eagles.
After getting benched during the Eagles games in Baltimore on Sunday,
Reid decided to bench QB Donovan McNabb in place of backup Kevin Kolb.
This was the first time in McNabb's career that he has ever been
benched for anything other than an injury. At the point of halftime
during Sunday's game, the Eagles were down to the Ravens 10-7 while
McNabb was 8/18 for 59 yards passing and 3 turnovers.
Kolb finished the game 10/23 for 73 yards and 2 interceptions. The final score was Baltimore 36 Philadelphia 7.
During Reid's press conference today the head coach stated that McNabb
will start the Thanksgiving day's game where the Eagles will host the
first place Cardinals. When asked why Reid decided to go back to McNabb
as the starter, he replied "I'll trust that he'll get his part right..."
What did the benching of McNabb accomplish? Reid also stated in the
press conference, "It's good to step back and look at things from a
different angle."
If the Eagles would have came out in the second half and walked away
with a win, Reid's tone would have been completely different. Instead
Kolb came out played just as bad as McNabb, if not worse, and will be
replaced this Thursday by McNabb.
For the time being, Kolb lost his opportunity to take over this team at least for the rest of 2008.
