Jerry West helps Kobe take game 1
By: SCUBA

If you listened to any sports talk radio, ready any sports blog, or watched any sports news channel yesterday you would have heard about Jerry West stating that "
Lebron has surpassed Kobe as a player."
Kobe stated that he did not read this statement from the man who brought him to the Lakers in a trade for Vlade Divac.
I have a very difficult time thinking that Kobe went all day and never heard word of this from his family, friends, or teammates.
For Jerry West to say this the day of game 1 of the Western Conference Finals seems a little too coincidental. Although, West has since retired from the NBA, most recently as the GM of the Memphis Grizzlies, West seems to still be pulling-the-strings on Phil Jackson's squad.
Kobe went on to score 40, and 18 in the final quarter to push the Lakers past the Nuggets in game 1, 105 - 103.
The Lakers were trailing the majority of the game, led by Carmello Anthony who had 39 points and 16 in the first quarter. However, it was a stolen pass by Trevor Ariza in the final seconds that sealed-the-deal.
This was a statement game by Kobe who had to have been fueled by Jerry West's comments. Just another reason for world to want a Lakers Vs. Cavs Finals.....as if we needed another one.
