109 MPH...no big deal if your name is Adrian Peterson (Dashboard cam video included)
Minnesota Vikings star running back, Adrian Peterson was recently pulled over for reaching 109 MPH on a Minnesota State Highway 62.  In what could have ended in a criminal offense and a possible trip to jail, instead ended with a handshake.

Last Saturday night Peterson was on his way back to the team hotel where the Vikings stay the night before home games.  It didn't sound like Peterson was in a hurry to get back to the hotel, in fact he stated that it was the traffic stop that made him late to the hotel.

Peterson mentioned, "After I got pulled over, then I was late," according to the Minneapolis news website KARE 11.

The officer that pulled him over was professional when dealing with the hometown star.  It should also be noted that the officer did issue Peterson a speeding citation for going 109 mph in a 55 mph zone.

In addition, Peterson will most likely lose his driver's license for up to 6 months.  However, Peterson was 1 mph away from going double the legal speed limit.  Is the issuance of only a citation the result of being Adrian Peterson?

Living in the Minneapolis suburbs, I travel this same stretch of MN highway that Peterson was pulled over on.  I have a tough time thinking that if I was pulled over going almost double the legal speed limit, that I wouldn't have been issued the criminal offense of reckless driving and the potential of up to 90 days in jail instead of just a speeding ticket.

When you watch the video, you'll notice that the officer handles the situation fairly well, however he obviously was fully aware of not only who he was but the fact he had a game to get ready for the next day.

Oh well....Peterson gets a tickets and with my luck would have received the handcuffed trip to jail treatment.  And that is just one of the perks of being a celebrity.....unless of course your name is Plaxico Burress.
