Clinton Portis Out For The Season
Concussions have taken another victim.
As if the Redskins season wasn't tough enough, Clinton Portis will not play in the NFL until the 2010 season.
Portis has been sidelined since week 9 since suffering a concussion. The team has decided to place Portis on Injured Reserve.
Redskins Vice President of Football Operations Vinny Cerrato said recently in a statement:
"We felt at this juncture in the season, it was best to place Clinton on injured reserve. After consulting with our medical staff and other specialists, Clinton's prognosis is good and we expect him to make a full recovery and return to the Redskins."
What he's really saying is - He brains were scrambled. We have no chance of making the playoffs, and we really don't want to jeopardize the rest of his career by bringing him back to a destined for a below .500 team. Besides having him out will improve our chances of having a top 10 draft pick.
With Ladell Betts also injured, Rock Cartwright is expected to shoulder the majority of the rushing load for the Redskins.
