Welcome back to the regular season everyone! Today marked the first game-day of the Phillies 2011 campaign as the Phillies took on the Houston Astros featuring former Phillie Brett Myers. Now it may be April 1st, and the season whose players are called "the boys of summer" may be starting, but the weather at Citizen's Bank Park begged to differ. The teams played in weat...

"This is a family here," Barnes said. "So if someone comes and hits your brother, pushes your brother, then you definitely have their back. And that's the case here." With a heated battle last night, including five ejections, the Lakers aren't slowing down. Early in the 4th potential 6th man of the year -- Jason Terry -- pushed Steve Blake as he was driving to the hoop. This caused an angry exchan...

Top 10 lists are a tricky thing. I've seen a lot of movies in my day and narrowing all of those down to my favorite 10 seems darn near impossible (not to the mention the fact that I have not seen every movie and so the list will be inescapably flawed). So rather than try and say "These are the 10 best movies of all time that I have seen", I'm going through my collection and picking mov...

Here is a blog topic I've meant to hit for a long, long time. Movie music! For anyone who has talked movies with me, there is a good chance they have picked up on the fact that I pay close attention to the music (I can think of one person in particular whom I recently talked with). A movie's score can elevate a scene to something truly amazing. It helps to provide an all ou...

Nobody likes to see the Giants lose, especially to the Dodgers on opening night with our ace on the mound. It leads to texts from Southern Californian friends about things Clayton Kershaw can do that Tim Lincecum wishes he could do. As if.
But even with all of those aggravating circumstances, this one actually wasn't so bad. For a loss.
The aforementioned Lincecum was s...

I've read this is the good vs evil final 4. The upstarts Butler and VCU are the feel good stories. They are the underdogs that warm your heart. Connecticut and Kentucky are the evil empires full top of 100 recruits, run by two coaches Jim Calhoun and John Calipari that are pretty familiar with the word NCAA violation. I'm here to tell there that are few things you can dislike about Butler, and ev...

This is no joke.
This is hardly an exaggeration.
But the way the Lakers have been playing, there is no doubt they can clinch the number one seed. Especially since San Antonio is in slump of misery.
However, Phil Jackson thinks otherwise, "It's still a real long shot. They only have to win a couple games here and we have to go perfect. So it's real difficult to see that [occurring]."
The Lakers...

The New York Yankees won a record setting 11th straight home opener. CC Sabathia battled through six innings, the bullpen took over, and the Yankees got come clutch hitting as they start the season with a 6-3 win over the Detroit Tigers....

The boys of summer are back as the Jays attempt to feast on the beasts of the AL East. Despite posting several impressive records over the past decade, the Jays have been unable to knock down the fort of the always tough Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and recently, the Tampa Bay Rays. Not to mention, this year the Baltimore Orioles have acquired some veteran presence t...

Opening day is upon us, which means baseball fans all over the country will spend today themselves, and anyone else who will listen, into believing their teams have a shot to make it to the World Series. It doesn't matter how ridiculous the odds are, today if you can think it, it is possible.
Now I don't get geeked as some folks for opening day. I used to, but I've come to realize it's like gett...
