The Circus that is the NBA Lockout
Lock it up!
At 12:01 a.m. Friday morning the chains were laid across the NBA's doors and the league was officially locked out for the first time since the 1998-1999 season.

Just like when you first hear the guy in your neighborhood with the Benz and the sweet in ground pool has filed for bankruptcy, your first thoughts probably went something like...."How could this happen? I thought things were ...

Phillies Spoil Canada Day for Blue Jays With 9th Inning Rally
Exactly 144 years ago today, Canada gained independence from Great Britain, creating Canada day, much like our July 4th.  So being Canada day, it was only fitting that the Toronto Blue Jays, Canada's only team, was able to play at home and celebrate this national holiday.  However, every party inevitably has someone ruining it, and for that reason the Phillies were in town to beat t... Washington Capitals rob Colorado with Varlamov trade
Washington Capitals General Manager, George McPhee has been oft criticized of late. McPhee made the most of the theory of addition by subtraction by sending disgruntled Goalie, Semyon Varlamov to Colorado for the Avalanche's 2012 1st and 2nd round picks.

This just in...the Colorado Avalanche aren't projected to be good so that 1st round pick Washington now owns could be a top 5 pick or...

Cole Hamels Gets Injured, and Bullpen Fails to Hold Sox as Phillies Can't Sweep Series
There is an old adage that claims that "you can't win 'em all" and that even the best teams lose sometimes.  Today, the Phillies learned this the hard way, losing pitcher Cole Hamels early in the game.  Hamels was hit in the heel of his hand in the 4th inning, and left the next after allowing just two hits.  Though X-Rays were negative and Hamels injury probably won't forc... Knock on wood: Liberty players remain healthy
Though fans might have complained and lost sleep over their team’s early season woes, the Liberty faithful is truly grateful that the injury bug has avoided New York. Knock on wood. Summer Ridiculousness Begins
Summertime Ridiculousness
Maybe it's the heat. Maybe it's the extra daylight. Or maybe it's just the abundance of Bomb Pops finally getting to us. But as people we get a little nutty each year around this time. From hot dog slamming contests to pay tremendous amounts of money on stuff to blow up to feeling comfortable wearing swimwear during non-swimming activities, summer if filled with ridiculo...

Could Marty Turco be Varlamov's replacement in Washington?
The Washington Capitals appear to be parting ways with talented but oft injured goalie Semyon Varlamov. His agent's tactic of negotiating via the media with threats is just something George McPhee does not respond well to. Eric Belanger's agent tried that ploy last year and wound up in Columbus. So who will the Caps get to replace Varlamov?

Marty Turco and Mike Knuble have been friends since thei...

Vance Worley Gets the Job Done, Phillies Win 2-1
No matter who you are, it's not easy to follow up a Cliff Lee performance, especially this month.  However, tonight the unlikely candidate Vance Worley came fairly close, going seven strong innings allowing just one run on five hits, while striking out five.  Worley probably would have gone further into the game too, had he not 116 pitches.  Worley, aided by Red Sox starter John Lac... Former Georgia Tech basketball player Iman Shumpert makes me eat crow.
Back in May, I posted on the Georgia Tech Raycom Sport's blog, that Georgia Tech guard Iman Shumpert was making a mistake coming out this year. His jumper was average, and his ball-handling simply adequate. Sure he could defend, but he needed another year school. Iman Shumpert went in the 1st round to the New York Knicks at pick number 17. I'm not sure I've been more wrong on any topic on spo...
