The Hopeless Case Of Matt Leinart
The pretty boy from USC may be out of a job soon. Who is to blame? If you ask Matt Leinart, he will tell you that the Cardinals have given him no chance to succeed. If you ask the Cardinals, you will hear a story of a valuable draft pick that never materialized.

With Derek Anderson breathing down his neck, it is hard to see why anyone would want to take a chance drafting Leinart. Even if he does ...

Morning Buzz: A double shot of fantasy espresso

Today's Morning Buzz is a double shot of espresso, because diaper duty and such postponed yesterday's post, but there's plenty of news to cover, so let's get to sippin' that fantasy Joe.

TRAGICALLY HIP

So who had anyone other than Old Man Favre as the first Vikings player to need hip surgery this season?

Yeah, me neither.

But unless your league has ample IR spots, you'll want to knock Vikings...

Draft Day Drama, Vol. 1

A few thoughts from my first football draft of the season, for which I was woefully unprepared (see my last post about dirty diapers and you'll understand):

• No rush for running backs. The days of drafting RBs in the first two rounds are over, as far as I'm concerned. In fact, if you're picking later than No. 8, you might not even want to pick one in the first two rounds. There are so few slam-...

No one cares about your fantasy team ... or your kid
The smattering of followers this blog picked up in its infancy might be wondering where we've been the past couple of weeks. I mean, what kind of fantasy sports blog totally bails in the middle of the MLB trade deadline and can't even muster a post about Brett Favre coming back? (Although to be fair, we did have a post about Favre kind of sort of maybe thinking about not coming back, in which we t... (continue)
Favre Lands In Minnesota Ready To Be Top Quarterback
Another chapter in the Brett Favre has unfolded before our eyes. This afternoon, the Mississippi-native landed at a very windy Minneapolis airport. Possibly a sign of all the commotion he is about to stir.

Reports are that Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson, and Ryan Longwell all got on a private plane to Favre's home in Mississippi and brought him back with them to Minneapolis.

The looks ...

Should You Draft Tim Tebow?
I know that there has not been a lot of attention given to new Denver quarterback Tim Tebow, so I thought I would shed some light on his situation. He is not your normal quarterback. Allow me to explain.

Tebow might not actually be a quarterback. He sure does not look like it anyways. However, he is being coached by one of the modern day quarterback geniuses in Josh McDaniels. So, after his first...

Thoughts From Pre-Season: Ravens Look Good
Tonight I watched the preseason game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Carolina Panthers. Here is what I came away with: Watch out NFL, the Ravens are for real.

Joe Flaaco looked on par for each possession he was in. He seemed to be in sync with both Derrick Mason and Anquan Boldin. Ray Rice also looked good as usual, running hard an being where he needed to be every time.

The Ravens D also l...

Best Receivers To Draft In Fantasy Football
Every year, the free agent wires in fantasy football are scoured for the next sleeper. Unfortunately, that rarely works our for the owner except for the rare case like that of Mike Sims-Walker last season who went largely undrafted.

So this year, be sure to be smart with who you draft at receiver early on. You don't want to have to be stuck midways through the season taking chances on the likes o...

Fantasy Football Running Backs, Who Is #1?
The most important position in fantasy football is the running back. If you're team gets a solid running back early on, you might as well just put the rest of the season on cruise control.

However, since this is such a well known fact, it is hard to come by said running backs. You need to be able to draft well early on. Either you draft the stud running back that will keep you going, or...
