Roethlisberger used the word "intercourse" with police, Milton Bradley thinks hate was racial, and The Back Porch podcast!
Thought #1

One of my goals in life is to never have to use the word "intercourse" when talking to the police. I figure if I'm ever caught in a situation where that has to be uttered to some officer of law enforcement at some level things have gone horribly wrong. So far, goal achieved. It's too bad for Ben Roethlisberger and Steeler fans that he can't say the same.

This week it was reported that...

New Era to sponsor Pinstripe Bowl
The Yankees have announced the official name for the college football bowl game that will be played at Yankee Stadium this year. New Era Cap Company, Inc has signed a four year deal to be the title sponsor for the game that will be known as the New Era Pinstripe Bowl. A combination of the company and the famous pinstripes the Yankees wear on their home uniforms.
The game has been scheduled for De...

For anyone interested, on Monday mornings I have a column over on my ACC blog, www.TheeSportsBlog.com.  It is not baseball related, or fantasy related, but rather ACC and more specifically the Trianlge of NC related.

The 2010 Rutgers football recruiting class
The 2010 recruiting class for Rutgers and head coach Greg Schiano was rather slow to develop. The wait was worth it as some late commits made this class respectable. This year Schiano seems to have re-affirmed his ground in Florida while still bringing in some home grown talent. New Jersey had some what of a down year as far as high school seniors go. Let's take a look at the new Scarlet Knights. ... (continue)
Mike Dunleavy no longer Clippers head coach, Ladies join the Mavericks huddle, plus The Back Porch Super Bowl podcast!
Thought #1- The Clippers have relieved head coach Mike Dunleavy . Now if you've ever been fired from a job that kind of sucked you know that mixed feeling of being upset and revealed. My guess is Mike is feeling the latter of those right now. Let's face it, being the JV Lakers coach can't be easy. It has to be a little tiresome always having to clear out the locker room before Kobe and the guys ar... (continue)
Rex Ryan's MMA debut, Tebow's Senior Bowl, and the Celtics aging rapidly
Thought #1- If you were afraid that with the Jets failing to make the Super Bowl you would be forced to have two weeks absent of Rex Ryan's antics, put your mind at ease. Rexy made a series of bad decisions Saturday night which resulted is a sweet photo of him sporting a goofy grin behind a fully raised middle finger at a MMA event in Miami. Now Rex is a different breed that's for sure, but mistak... (continue)
TSD quick hitters: Tebow, Warner, Wizards, Capitals and the Olympics
Don't count Tebow out – I find it amusing how the Nintendo (instant gratification) crowd has already written off Tim Tebow at the beginning of his procareer. If Tebow does not quit he has plenty of “doubter fuel” to propel him tosucceed at whatever position he wants to play. The so called draft experts allmissed on Tom Brady so I do not buy into this early dismissal of Tebow as a QB.This kid appea... (continue)
Urban Myer's addiction, Fran Tarkenton is still grumpy, and the Back Porch picks!
Thought #1 - Have you ever seen that show Intervention? It's basically a show where families and friends come together to stop a person from their own self destructive habits. Sometimes it's crack, sometimes it's heroin, or sometimes it's a eating disorder. Regardless it's always something that is hurting the person and that they can't stop doing.

This week's intervention topic, college football ...

The Lane Kiffin Sewage Center and The Back Porch Podcast!
Thought #1 - Have you ever drove through a random town and noticed the highway you were driving down had a name attached to it? You know like a Robert Wallace Parkway or James Monroe Highway. Have you ever wondered, what did that guy do to get a road named after him? Something heroic like saving a baby from a burning building or maybe he responsible for funding some much needed branch at the local... (continue)
Dooley is the Vols' new man, Gilbert pleads guilty, & Craig James goes sports dad on Texas Tech
Thought #1 - Tennessee hired who? Derek Dooley? Yup that's right, the University of Tennessee officially announced yesterday that the former La. Tech head coach and athletic director will replace Lane Kiffin at the helm for the Vols.

Wait, so you're telling me UT just hired a guy who wasn't even at the top of the candidate list for the University of Virginia job? Wow, who are you these day...
